INVESTIGATION

Your Task: Identify and provide a solution to a problem in Australian food farming (Agriculture/aquaculture).

 

Objective: To brainstorm, research, identify, and propose an existing or new solution for a significant issue currently affecting food farming in Australia.

Research Phase:

 

Topic Exploration:

 

Problem Identification: Select one of these major problems affecting food farming in Australia. Provide a detailed description of the problem, including its causes, impact on farming or food supply, and why it is a significant issue. (Include data and statistics to support your findings.) 

 

Solution Design:

 

Part 1 Existing Solutions: Research any existing solutions that have been implemented to combat the problem you identified. Evaluate the effectiveness of these solutions/ Make a judgement as to why or why not these solutions are sound. What are the solutions' strengths and weaknesses? (choose up to 3)

 

Extension: Innovative Proposal: Design a new solution or improve upon an existing one. Your proposal should be practical, sustainable, and tailored to the specific conditions in Australia. 

 

Part 2 Presentation: Put together your findings from Part 1 into a well-organised document of words, pictures, data (graphs and statistics). infographics.

  • Use visual aids such as charts, graphs, or diagrams to enhance your presentation.​

  • Present your work in a visually pleasing manner that can be displayed at the Cultural Studies Expo. You will need clear visual elements and descriptions (key points drawn from your written piece) plus your written piece on display.

 

Assessment Criteria:

  • Research Quality: Depth and relevance of research conducted.

  • Problem Identification: Clarity and accuracy in describing the problem. Solution Design: Innovation, practicality, and feasibility of the proposed solution.

  • Presentation: Organisation, clarity, and effectiveness of written and oral presentations.

  • Use of Data: Effective use of data and evidence to support your findings and solution.
