CONNECTING URBAN PEOPLE WITH THEIR FOOD
With climate change making ecosystems more unpredictable and unsustainable farming practices and urban population growth disconnecting people from their food sources, we currently overuse and waste resources.

Objective: Is to create a sustainable and repeatable solution to engage urban residents in food production and self-reliance.
Task: Develop an architectural, landscape architectural, city planning, technological, or campaign solution to reconnect South Australians with their food source.
Farming in Australia
Urban Expansion
To do this you will need to challenge your thinking skills.

There may be no singular solution that you can just google. By researching broadly you may find an unlikely collaboration of ideas.
-
Can an iPhone help feed people?
-
Could government policy regarding free child care help put food on the table?
-
Should we all be growing our own food, but is this realistic?
-
How and where are people living now, in towns, suburbs, cities, what facilities do they have to work with?
Consider your learning over this term:
-
What were some key issues in Agriculture/Aquaculture?
-
What issues do people face when trying to source food?
-
Why are people disconnected from how their food is grown and transported?
Criteria: Outline your project with a written piece:
-
Identify a real world farming problem or food issue relating to food security. Choose one (to solve them all is an improbable task)
-
Explain the disconnection between your chosen demographic and food production/source
-
Explain what your solution is and how you came to it
-
Explain how it will work (how is it sustainable)
-
Explain how your solution is repeatable
You will need to use at least 4 references and formally referenced on your document.
Your outline should be between 800-1000 words.

Presentation:
-
Present your work in a visually pleasing manner that can be displayed at the Cultural Studies Expo.
You will need:
-
Clear visual elements and descriptions (key points drawn from your written piece) that summarises your written piece.
-
Your written piece on display.
